Overview of Affected Models & Compensation

As announced on November 1, 2012, procedural errors at our testing operations in Korea resulted in overstated fuel economy ratings for approximately 600,000 Hyundai vehicles sold between 2010 and 2012. We sincerely apologize for these errors and our top priority is to make this right for you.

As a result, the combined EPA fuel economy estimates on affected Hyundai vehicles were overstated by one or two MPG.

If your vehicle is affected, here’s our plan to reimburse you for additional fuel costs incurred to date, and for as long as you own your vehicle.

First, visit our Hyundai affected model page to determine if your vehicle is affected by the fuel economy rating change.

If your vehicle qualifies, use the Reimbursement Estimator for an estimate of your initial reimbursement amount, which will be based on the model you own, your odometer reading, and the average gas price in your area. In addition, as an acknowledgement of other small costs and the inconvenience this may cause, we will add an extra 15% to your reimbursement amount. Your reimbursement amount may vary slightly from the Reimbursement Estimator based on your actual odometer reading when you reach the dealership.

Finally, at your convenience, visit your authorized Hyundai dealer who will verify your current odometer reading and we will arrange for a debit card to be sent to you.

This reimbursement program will continue for as long as you own your vehicle.
